  1. Cut around the outside edges of each character. Make sure you have a front and back piece for each squishy.
  2. Place the front and back pieces together and tape around the edges, leaving a small opening.
  3. Gently fill the squishy with a little polyester stuffing. You want it to be soft and puffy without being too full.
  4. Once your Halloween character is stuffed, seal the remaining opening with tape.

Kids will love giving their homemade creations a gentle squeeze and showing off their finished Halloween characters.

Fun Ways to Use Your Halloween Squishies

These cute little creations are perfect for more than just a rainy-day craft! Here are a few fun ways to enjoy them this Halloween season.

  • Halloween Classroom Parties: Set up a craft station where students can make their own squishy to take home. For younger children, you can prepare the cutouts ahead of time.
  • Halloween Party Favors: Looking for a fun alternative to candy? These handmade squishies make adorable little party favors!
  • Afternoon Craft Time: Keep the kids entertained on a chilly fall afternoon with a simple Halloween craft that doesn’t require a trip to the craft store.

Tips for Making the Best Paper Squishies

Want your Halloween squishies to turn out extra cute? Here are a few simple tips to keep in mind.

  1. Don’t overstuff them. A little stuffing goes a long way! Overfilling can make it harder to seal the edges and keep the squishies soft.
  2. Use clear packing tape. Wider tape makes it easier to cover the characters and helps give the squishies their smooth finish.
  3. Seal the edges carefully. Make sure there aren’t any gaps where the stuffing can escape.
