If the EPUB has no fixed print pagination, the tool starts with an estimated page count and lets you replace it with the page total shown by your own reader.

The reading time tool provides an honest estimate based on the book's word count and a median reading speed derived from the catalog. The median book in the library is 60,746 words and takes about 265 minutes to read.
Your actual time may vary. The estimate is a starting point for planning your reading sessions.

The Reading Tracker at IZREA is built around a simple idea: progress is measured in pages. You set a current page, a total page count, and a daily page goal. The tracker then calculates how many days it will take to finish, based on your daily pace. It does not track minutes or sections—just pages. That simplicity is its strength, because it turns a long book into a series of manageable daily steps.
To start, you need to know the total number of pages in your edition. If the catalog does not provide a fixed page count, the tracker estimates it by dividing the word count by 250 words per page. For example, Marjorie Dean's Romance — Background and Themes has 55,095 words, so the initial estimate would be about 220 pages (55,095 ÷ 250 = 220.38, rounded up to 221). You can replace that estimate with the page count from your own reading app or physical edition, which may differ.
The tracker also asks for your current page. If you are starting at the beginning, that is page 1. If you have already read some, you can enter that page number and the tracker will adjust the remaining pages accordingly. This flexibility means you can use the tracker for books you have already started.
The default daily goal is 20 pages per day. That is a reasonable starting point for many readers, but you can adjust it to fit your schedule. If you have more time, you might set a higher goal; if you are busy, you might set a lower one. The tracker uses your goal to calculate the estimated finish date: it divides the remaining pages by your daily goal and rounds up to the nearest day.
For Marjorie Dean's Romance, if you have 220 pages remaining and set a goal of 20 pages per day, you will finish in 11 days (220 ÷ 20 = 11). If you increase your goal to 30 pages per day, you will finish in about 8 days (220 ÷ 30 = 7.33, rounded up to 8). The tracker makes it easy to see how small changes in your daily goal affect your completion date.
As you read, you update your current page. The tracker then shows your remaining pages and recalculates the estimated time and finish date. It also stores your progress history in your browser's localStorage, so you can close the page and come back later without losing your place. No account is required, and your data stays on your device.
The estimated remaining time is proportional: if you have read half the pages, you have roughly half the estimated reading time left. For Marjorie Dean's Romance, the estimated reading time is 240 minutes. If you have read 110 pages out of 220, you have about 120 minutes left. This gives you a sense of how much time you will need to invest, not just how many days.
